What’s a House Without Windows?

October 23, 2017

Your Ventura, CA home has a lot of different parts. Can you imagine what the house would be like without windows? It would sure be dark, wouldn’t it? And there would never be any fresh air, which is a tragedy in a location like Ventura, CA. That musty smell would permeate every room! You certainly wouldn’t want to live in a house without windows.

A house without windows would be a very dark and gloomy place. Windows provide natural light, which is necessary for us to see. They also help to ventilate the house and keep it from becoming stuffy. In addition, windows can help to regulate the temperature inside the house by letting in warm sunlight in the winter and cool breezes in the summer. Without windows, we would be at the mercy of artificial lights and fans, which would use a lot of energy. In short, windows are an essential part of any home, and we would be lost without them.

Now that you think about windows and their importance, consider the difference the RIGHT windows can make.

They create drafts

Old windows are often very drafty because they have warped or rotted over the years. Even a tiny crack can let an uncomfortable draft into your home. Not only are those drafts uncomfortable, but they kill the energy efficiency of your house. Air that gets in comes through a space that can let the air out as well. Any leaks in your home force your AC to work harder and longer to maintain the temperature you want. That’s never a good thing when your bills come around every month.

They look bad

There’s nothing like old, worn windows to drag down the appearance of your home. They don’t just look bad from the curb; they also bring down the interior of your home! There aren’t many other elements within a home that can affect the interior and the exterior. Get new windows, and you’ll be set in terms of appearance on both sides of the wall.

They’re a security risk

Old windows are easy to break. They’re easy to pry. They’ve been around a long time and have been up against the elements. You never know what’s going to get through old windows. They can let in unwanted intruders like burglars, pests, insects, and anything else that wants to get in. New windows help you batten the hatches against those unwanted intruders.

They create work

The wrong windows will give you a great deal of work. Would you like to add to that to-do list? No? Who would? Older windows need to constantly be painted and scraped even to look semi-decent. They may cause you to search for parts to fix them as well. No one wants to waste time on windows, of all things!

Windows are important to any home. A home without them isn’t a home at all! But a home with the wrong windows can be uncomfortable and a headache in many ways. Instead of dealing with the wrong windows in your home, contact Quality Windows for a free, no-obligation consultation. Give us a call today at 805-564-7600, and let’s talk about your situation and what window contractors in Ventura, CA can fit in better with your home.
